Welcome to Plympton Primary School
Nestled between the city and the sea, in the vibrant suburb of Plympton, our school is a diverse, inclusive and welcoming community where we want every child to feel known, valued and excited about learning.
We have high expectations for our students and believe that every child is capable of learning, growing and experiencing success. Our role is to know our learners well, provide excellent teaching, recognise their individual strengths and needs, and create the right balance of support and challenge to help each of them thrive.
Our vision is to inspire every child to excel by fostering creativity, teamwork and a love of learning in a welcoming and inclusive community. This is underpinned by four values that are deliberately simple and meaningful for our students:

High-quality teaching and learning
Strong foundations in literacy and numeracy are central to our work. Our teachers use evidence-informed approaches, assessment and knowledge of their students to plan high-quality learning that is explicit, purposeful and responsive.
Our staff work collaboratively in professional learning communities and continually develop their expertise. We believe that school improvement should make a genuine difference to students, so we are thoughtful about our priorities, focus deeply on what matters most and take the time to embed effective practice well.
Learning at Plympton also extends well beyond literacy and numeracy. Students experience specialist learning in Health and Physical Education, Music, Performing Arts and Japanese, along with a range of enrichment, sporting, leadership and extracurricular opportunities.
A place where every child belongs
We know that children learn best when they feel safe, connected and understood. Student wellbeing and inclusion are therefore fundamental to the way we work, rather than something separate from learning.
We recognise that children come to school with different strengths, experiences and needs. Our teachers, support staff and leadership team work together with families and, where appropriate, external professionals to provide adjustments, personalised support and opportunities that enable all learners to participate and experience success.
We also place great importance on helping students develop positive relationships, self-regulation, resilience and a sense of responsibility for themselves and others. Our values of kindness and belonging are particularly visible in the way we want our students to treat one another and contribute to their school community.
More than a classroom
We want children to look back on their primary school years with wonderful memories of the experiences they shared as well as pride in what they learned.
Throughout the year, students have opportunities to participate in sport, performances, competitions, leadership, excursions and whole-school events. Celebrations including Harmony Week, Reconciliation Week, Book Week and our end-of-year Celebration Night bring our community together and provide opportunities for students to learn about themselves, one another and the wider world.
Student voice is also important at Plympton. We want our students to know that their ideas matter and to develop the confidence and skills to contribute positively to their school and community.
An exciting future for Plympton
It is also an incredibly exciting time for our school, with a $12 million redevelopment planned across 2027 and 2028 that will significantly transform our learning environment.
The redevelopment will see ageing transportable classrooms removed and replaced with a new, purpose-built building featuring multiple contemporary classrooms and flexible learning spaces. It will also include significant redevelopment of our much-loved Heritage Building, ensuring this important part of our school’s history continues to serve our students well into the future.
This substantial investment in Plympton Primary School will provide our students and staff with modern, high-quality learning environments while retaining the character and history that are such an important part of our school.
We are incredibly excited about what lies ahead and the opportunities this redevelopment will create for both our current students and the generations of Plympton students still to come.

Strong partnerships between school and home make a real difference for children. We value open, respectful communication with families and want parents and carers to feel welcome, informed and confident to be part of their child’s education.
