Principal's Welcome

Welcome to Plympton Primary School

Nestled between the city and the sea, our school sits in the vibrant south-western suburb of Plympton, drawing in families who hold high aspirations for their children. Our esteemed academic standards are nurtured by our dedicated, expert staff, who work hand in hand with our supportive community.

Our vision is to build better futures for our school community. Through collaborative efforts, we strive to deliver an enriching educational journey for each student.

Our school values of care, honesty, effort, respect, resilience and taking responsibility are embedded in all aspects of school life. We are committed to providing a safe learning environment where all students are empowered to become successful learners – who develop the knowledge, skills, behaviours and dispositions which will assist them to live and thrive in a global world.

Staff work collaboratively within a professional learning community ethos where they are committed to all students developing foundational skills in literacy and numeracy. This is achieved through a focus on high impact teaching and evidence-based learning strategies. Teachers are passionate about improving their practice and regularly engage in ongoing professional learning.

We offer specialist programs in health and physical education, performing arts, and Japanese as well as first language maintenance of Hindi, Nepali and Chinese.

We have a contemporary approach to integrating digital technologies into our teaching and learning programs.

A bring your own laptop program has been in place to enable year 3-6 students to access and utilise information and communication technologies.

The social and emotional development of all students to build positive wellbeing is a priority with a particular focus on students developing an awareness of their emotional responses to the environment so that everyone can successfully and safely engage in learning.

Throughout the year, we commemorate special occasions including Harmony Week, Reconciliation Week, Book Week, and Celebration Night, fostering critical thinking, problem-solving, and nurturing character virtues such as resilience, adaptability, and intercultural understanding.

Our school community stands as a tapestry of diverse cultures and backgrounds, united by shared values and a collective commitment to supporting each child’s journey towards success, participation, and contribution within our school community.

We extend a warm invitation to explore our website and invite prospective families to join us for a tour of our school.
