The Resilience Project

The Resilience Project at Our School

At our school, student wellbeing is a central part of our culture and curriculum. In 2025, we’re proudly introducing The Resilience Project as a whole-school approach to support every student’s social and emotional development. Each Thursday, every class participates in a dedicated wellbeing lesson, giving students time and space to explore practical strategies that build resilience and support positive mental health.

The Resilience Project focuses on four key pillars: Gratitude, Empathy, Mindfulness, and Emotional Literacy (GEM+EL). These evidence-based strategies help students develop habits that improve focus, regulate emotions, foster kindness, and build meaningful relationships. By practising GEM+EL regularly, students strengthen their ability to bounce back from challenges and navigate the ups and downs of life.

Aligned with the Australian Curriculum, The Resilience Project links to Health and Physical Education, Personal and Social Capability, and the Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships framework. Lessons are engaging, age-appropriate, and connected to other learning areas such as English, Maths, Science, and the Arts.

This proactive and preventative program empowers our teachers with tools to embed positive mental health messages across the school day. The goal is for students to carry these wellbeing practices beyond the classroom—into their homes and lives.

Together, we’re building a stronger, more connected school community—one GEM moment at a time.
