Welcome to Plympton Primary School. Your decision to enrol your child with us is an opportunity to access a high quality education with priorities for high academic achievement, responsible citizenship and healthy personal identity.

We are located halfway between the city of Adelaide and Glenelg in the south western suburb of Plympton. We cater for 5 – 12 year-olds (reception to year 6) in an inclusive and multicultural environment with high expectations for all. Approximately 280 students currently attend our school.

The school neighbourhood is a harmonious community who recognise and appreciate the shared values of culturally and linguistically diverse families. This unity is reflected in the commitment to support their children to achieve, share and contribute to school life.

Leadership Team

Tammy Riley – Principal

In 2023, Tammy commenced her journey at Plympton Primary School, marking her eighth year in school leadership. Prior to her tenure at Plympton, she has held various leadership roles, including Deputy Principal, Principal, and Principal Consultant over the previous seven years. Tammy firmly believes that fostering strong values, nurturing positive relationships, and fostering transparent communication are pivotal in creating an environment where educators can flourish and students can thrive.

With a deep understanding of evidence-based teaching methods and a passion for school improvement, Tammy is committed to collaborating closely with all staff to enhance student learning, engagement, and achievement throughout the entire school community. This involves providing support to teaching and support staff in their efforts to create optimal learning environments and opportunities for all learners.  Tammy actively engages with parents and students to ensure effective participation in learning activities and maintains open lines of communication with all key stakeholders within the school community.

Jonathan Gardner – Deputy Principal

Jonathan has been at Plympton Primary School since 2009, undertaking a variety of roles during this time. In his role as the Deputy Principal, Jonathan’s focus is on curriculum development and high-quality teaching and learning across all year levels at PPS. His current focus is on the development of reading for all students across the school. Jonathan is also passionate about the role and use of digital technologies in education.

Having been a part of the Plympton community for a number of years, Jonathan has strong relationships with students and families. He is passionate about students having opportunities that cater for all abilities, including the facilitation of extra curricula activities including the ICAS programs, Write a Book in a Day, the Australian Maths Challenge and Out of Hours school sport. Jonathan leads student leadership programs, including the Student Representative Council and Year 6 ambassador program.

Diane Donaldson – Assistant Principal (Inclusive Education)

I am thrilled to be a part of Plympton Primary School in 2024! I have found it to be a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive school where every child is valued. I strongly believe that fostering positive relationships with students and their families is crucial for children’s growth as both learners and individuals. In my role, I am responsible for leading and managing personalised programs to enhance learning outcomes, offering wellbeing support to children and their families, and leading the implementation of regulation initiatives. Together, we ensure that all staff and students have access to safe and respectful teaching and learning environments that promote engagement, inclusivity, and positive behaviours. Additionally, I am enjoying teaching the year 1 InitiaLit program and assisting teachers in expanding their understanding of evidence-based best practices in autism.
